Better Together: An Event Series

  • Spring 2026

    April, 2026. The Better Together: Interior Design Advocacy Symposium brought IIDA Tennessee and ASID Tennessee together for an evening focused on education, connection, and the future of the interior design profession. Attendees participated in a candid Q+A with our lobbyist, J.A. Bucy, gaining insight into Tennessee’s legislative landscape, recent advocacy efforts, and the work ahead to strengthen and advance the interior design profession across the state.

  • Spring 2025

    March, 2025. The event featured a panel discussion with Claudia Lofton, Laura Wessels, Joseph Cole, and Kate O’Neil, bringing together perspectives from interior design and architecture. The conversation explored advocacy, professional collaboration, and the evolving role of interior designers in Tennessee, with panelists sharing their experiences and insights on how the design community can work together to strengthen the profession and move advocacy efforts forward.

  • Fall 2025

    October, 2025. ASID and IIDA came together at Fait La Force Brewing Co. for a casual evening of conversation around interior design advocacy. Members from both organizations connected over the legislative efforts currently underway in Tennessee and learned more about how a unified design community can help support and protect the profession.

"Better Together" is a series of events hosted in collaboration by ASID and IIDA, designed to advocate for the interior design industry. These events emphasize the essential role of interior designers in working with industry partners and other allied professionals to shape our built environment and communities. Our gatherings aim to bring together interior designers, architects, engineers, and industry representatives through engaging networking opportunities that promote collaboration, innovation, and education. At the same time, we support ongoing efforts to advance interior design legislation in Tennessee.
